Cody and Callie have started gym class at My Gym. They are by far the youngest and baldest kids in the class, but they sure have fun. Cody loves the ball pit while Callie takes to the climbing wall!
We also celebrated their cousin Vivi's 5th birthday by taking a trip to Whidbey Island to Matt, Nancy, Dick and Melody's beach house. We thought we would give Cody and Callie their first ferry ride, but the line was waaaaaaay too long to wait, so we drove around - no one in their right mind would wait and hour and a half in line with twins in the car and 80 degree temps outside. It was worth the drive - I hadn't been that way since our Northwest Soccer Camp days at Fort Casey! Once we arrived at Chateau Sanborn/Blackwood, we did a little swimming, playing with Vivi, and we even had our first taste of watermelon, before we headed back home. Boy, do they love their cousin Vivi!
In the meantime, Daddy has invented a new way to keep the kiddos occupied... all you need is a laundry basket, some pillows, a crazy driver and two smiling kids. Bingo, easy entertainment!
So, here we are at 8 months old. Callie is crawling up a storm, pulling herself to a stand and trying to get into everything including the dog's water bowl. Cody is so close to crawling. He gets up on all fours but has yet to master the movement forward. He prefers to stand alongside his sister and play with their music table, which is the greatest toy for them. They love to stand and play together. The laughter is contagious and I love to watch them interact. Cody is now holding his own bottle, while Callie has to be contained to her Bumbo for feedings because she would rather explore than eat. They continue to eat solid foods and have discovered that they are really interested in what everyone else is eating. We don't dare eat in front of them unless we are willing to give them a taste. Cody still only has the one tooth and Callie remains toothless, although I suspect there are a couple on their way!
With the warm weather we have been having, Cody and Callie enjoy going on their evening walks and as of late we have been checking out the progress of the construction on the elementary school up the hill. Maybe someday they will attend the newly remodeled school. But for now, they are looking forward to starting preschool on Wednesday.
Here are some 8 month pics! I couldn't decide on just one, so here are a few! They sure are getting big!
